I've been away from the blog lately because a lot of things are happening! We took a trip to New York City and Providence, Rhode Island. And then there was Thanksgiving, and now we are moving into a new house! Holy smokes.
Well, here are some things I made that I'm rather pleased with. I embroidered these kitchen towels for Adam & Evelyn, who we visited in Providence. Sort of a late housewarming gift, along with a jar of the Oregon Grape jam we made over the summer.
Here's a ram that turned out looking sort of like a constellation. It's hard to tell here, but I used different colors of pastel thread on a black towel.
And a colorful foxy fox on a white towel:
The animals are based loosely on images from this sticker book:
It's one of many brilliant sticker books by Dover Publications. If you type "old fashioned" or "old time" into the search at their website, you'll get all kinds of incredible books of stickers, clip art, and paper dolls. I also love their cheap editions of classic literature, always with beautiful cover art. Don't get me started on Dover. They're the best.

Dover! Yes! I wish I had their whole clip art book collection.
Ooh! The fox is lovely! :D
HI! i hope everything is going well for you.
My names Kyle Simmons and I saw your pieces on display at the Scrap Gallery on MLK in NE ,and online, and I just wanted to tell ya that I really enjoy checking out your work. Im putting together a group show in February and I wanted to know if you would be down to submit anythingggg with us?!?
The show is based on being OVERWHELMED, in good instances and bad. Its going to be hosted by my good friends at Courier Cafe in downtown Portland. http://www.couriercoffeeroasters.com/ on 923 SW Oak.
One aspect of this whole "overwhelmed" approach is going to be the diverse and large volume of work that Im trying to connect and display. We are shooting for an old school, salon style presentation where the whole display wall is covered from about chest height to the very cieling.
any media is fine but must be ready to easily install and display.
so far i have several painters, printers, illustrators, hopefully some small sculpture works and literary/poem works so its looking to be an awesome show already. we are throwing a really fresh reception on the first thursday of Feb. 2/3/11 and theres a ton of people going in and out of this real awesome spot all day.
anyways, i hope ur interested because I promise youll connect with some other really interesting and productive people as well as get your work out there cuz it NEEDS to be seen.
oh and by the way, accessibilty is a big thing and making artwork that people can actually afford, let alone even consider buying is crucial so we're running with all works must be sold for less than $100. submissions due by jan.31, 2011
let me know what you think! and feel free to contact me at anytime here on email or by phone if u need to.
